A crowd of Palestinians and internationals gather in Bab El Baladiya, near the gate that leads to the military base, and are held off by a group of soldiers. The boy and his parents and some other Palestinians are behind the soldiers, being questioned by others.
Some of the soldiers, including the commander, who is standing in the middle.
The father and mother stand in front of their son, who is in the grey shirt.
If I had to choose one photo to show the spirit of the Palestinian people, this would be it. They may be occupied, but they do not stop resisting, and are definitely not defeated,
The boy's father clings to him, as the soldiers try to convince him to give up his son.
Palestinian kids start gathering, and face down the soldiers.
The soldiers unsuccessfully tried getting the crowd to move back. Their efforts were for naught.
One of our ISMers talks to one of the soldiers. Together, we tried convincing this guy that he and his friends were wasting their time by holding this kid. He kept telling us to stop talking. We told him that if they let him go, we would not only stop talking but we would also leave, and so would everyone else.
Seconds after the boy took off. Unfortunately, it happened so fast and we were by the parents, that I did not get this moment on camera. Others were filming so if I get a video or photos of this, I will definitely post. It was priceless.
The soldiers returning to their base, after an unsuccessful attempt to arrest a youth for something he did not do. The anger in their faces was evident. A few moments later when they went on a patrol, one of them randomly slapped a Palestinian kid in the neck.
Relaxing with some of the members of the family, in their house. The parents of the boy were there also, and treated us very graciously.
