In activism, like in a real job, the work doesn't stop when you are gone. This definitely was true of the situation in Hebron this weekend and the last time we were in Susya.
A few days ago, when we were in Susya, an Israeli soldier allegedly misplaced his gun somewhere in Tel Rumeida. The army raided several houses, destroying people's furniture in their searches. Matthew was filming them, and one of the soldiers threw his camera on the ground and broke it, then threatened to arrest him. One of the soldiers accused Matthew of kicking him.
On Saturday evening, in response to the murder by three settlers of a Palestinian baby near Nablus who was killed when his house was firebombed on Friday night, some Palestinans allegedly attempted to set fire to the home of a settler. The soldiers responded by massive arrests of Palestinian teenagers during the night, and broke into homes and shops for five hours, all over the Souq. CPTers and ISMers who were observing were threatened with arrest.
