There were about fifty soldiers from the Israeli Army, Border Police and Border Police Special Forces today, guarding the settler tour. They did a very good job in obstructing Palestinians access to free movement in their own market, though they were more lenient this time than in the past.
Last year, I spoke to an Israeli soldier, and asked him flat out what he thought of the settlers. He told me he couldn't stand them and that he hates having to defend them. I can't help wondering how many of these guys feel the same way.
